Emerge USA Tampa Annual Benefit Dinner
Tampa, FL – The Emerge USA Annual Benefit Dinner was a success due to our community turnout. As always, Emerge USA greatly appreciates your participation and continuous support.
Members from the MASA community in Tampa and local elected officials attended the event on Saturday. Mike Suarez, who represents District 1 on the Tampa City Council, was the keynote speaker for the evening.
“You can be the most important people to bring the Muslim community to the forefront of what it means to be a Muslim and to be an American because I do not think of it as a separate identity. There are too many people that think that.”
- Mike Suarez, Tampa City Councilman
Other elected officials also joined Emerge USA to represent the Hillsborough County School Board and the Florida House of Representatives.
“We all feel an obligation to stand up against bigotry and discrimination, particularly religious discrimination in this community and throughout our country.”
– Harry Cohen, Tampa City Councilman
Emerge USA presented our vision and expansion plan for the future, and how the community can get involved. It is only through participation that Emerge USA can continue to work and spread knowledge in order to decrease voter inequality and increase representation. There is Power through Participation.
“It was Emerge USA that taught me truly what the Muslim is here, and I wish that the people around the world can see and know the Muslim community the way I have. They are a community of honesty and kindness.”
– Janet Cruz, Florida State Representative
